The prevalent and unique music genre of modern rock, also known as alternative rock, incorporates elements of classic rock with a modern spin. Artists of this genre include bands from the late 1990s to today. This style of music can range from hard rock to a more modern alternative sound, but all stem from the overall genre of rock.
One of my favorite newer alt-rock bands is Inhaler, a young and recent Irish rock band. Their debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This, released in 2021, is filled with modern rock classics and provides listeners with a polished, more upbeat sound to classic rock. Some of their best songs include “It Won’t Always Be Like This”, “My Honest Face”, and “Your Power.”
Bring Me the Horizon, formed in 2004, is a more widely known rock band. The group’s style has evolved from their debut: metal-based sound to alternative and even electronic rock sound. Their style has always stayed true to the elements of rock, however, and each album brings a new take on the genre, making their music continuously captivating. Some of their best songs include “Drown”, “Sleepwalking”, and “Throne.”
ONE OK ROCK is a Japanese modern rock band formed in 2005. Their style ranges from a hardcore rock vibe to more upbeat and uplifting anthems. Their music always includes meaningful lyrics and is aimed at a younger audience. They are also known for their energetic live performances. The group’s music is constantly evolving to many different styles of rock, but they have always kept a unique, signature sound. Some of their best songs include “The Beginning”, “We Are”, “Stand Out Fit In”, and “Take What You Want.”
