Badminton is an overlooked sport that is really something to look forward to when the sun decides to make an appearance.
To play, you need a net that’s technically two and a half feet above the ground and twenty feet wide (or you could easily make any volleyball, tennis, or pickleball net work), a badminton racquet that’s sort of like a lighter and smaller version of a tennis racquet, and a shuttlecock to knock back and forth like a tennis ball.
You can play 1v1 or 2v2 and you go until the shuttlecock touches the ground, the net, or it goes out of bounds. Technically, players go until one reaches twenty one points and they must win by two points. You can also purchase a travel set on Amazon or at any sports store.
Personally, I think the best place to play badminton is at Balboa Beach with a travel set. Hours in the sun, playing with family and friends, and getting tan and sweaty while you’re at it - it’s a fantastic time.
